Reflecting the Sun by Simone Boon
ARTIST : Simone Boon
MEDIUM: Ultrachrome Pigment Print-Diasec
YEAR: 2014
DIMENSION: L1050 x W700mm
Simone’s moving ‘portraits’ of young women, being unfrozen from the frame, aim to give a different perspective on the essence of identity. Her photographic experiments are like a search for the beauty that goes beyond one moment in time, thus depicting the changing positions of subjects. The dynamic interplay of light and movement resembles a painting rather than a photograph. The young female models in the works are like brushes that perform painting by their body movements, whilst the mirror reflex camera is like a piece of canvas which allow the artist to capture the visual language of transitions.
